    Setting up in transition

Transition opens at 6:00 am. Spaces are first come, first served — there are no assigned racks.

    1. Choose a space and remember it. Use a nearby landmark so you can find your bike again after your first leg.
    2. Keep your kit close. Put shoes and other race gear together by your bike. Keep the aisles clear and give neighbours room.
    3. Learn the exits. Find your route in, your bike exit and the marked mount/dismount points. If you are running, find the run exit too.
    4. Check the bike. Helmet, sticker, tyres, brakes and bottles. If something is wrong, find Ben at PBT before racing.
    5. Be ready for briefing. Everyone meets by the main stage at 7:45 am, even if their race starts later.

    During the race

Follow the transition marshals and the marked mount/dismount lines. Look out for other athletes and handle only your own equipment.

    Bags, valuables & supporters

You may leave gear by your bike at your own risk. Leave valuables somewhere secure. Supporters must follow crew directions on access and keep the racing lanes clear.

Have all your equipment set up before 7:30 am. Transition closes for everyone after 7:30 am until 10:30 am. Keep your gear within your space, leave access clear and handle only your own equipment. Transition is closed until 10:30 am. Wait for the transition crew to allow access before collecting your bike. The bike-course cut-off is not a promise that transition has reopened.

    Before the start · Maraetai

    Briefing & your race start

    Everyone’s briefing7:45 am
    Your selected raceSelect your race

Meet by the main stage for the safety briefing. It is compulsory for all distances, including the later Sprint starts.

You have selected Olympic Triathlon. Listen for course changes, your starting area, lap instructions, transition access and what to do if you need help.

Start in the swim area and wave allocated to your race. The crew will explain the starting procedure at briefing.

Your duathlon is bike, then run. Go to the duathlon start directed by the crew; it has its own start time.

Aquabike starts with the corresponding triathlon swim. Confirm where your timed finish is and how to leave the course after the bike.

Running late or missed the briefing?

Go straight to registration or an event official for instructions. Do not join a different wave or enter the course on your own.

    Course cut-offs

    • Swim: 9:30 am.
    • Bike: 10:30 am.
    • Run: 11:30 am. Course support ends then and timing afterwards is not guaranteed.

Plan to finish each leg before its cut-off. If you cannot continue, tell an official so the team knows you are safe.

    Before the start · Maraetai

    Racing as a relay team

Two or three people can share the legs. Your team receives one set of race gear, including one ankle timing tag.

    Swimmer
Wears the team swim cap and starts with the ankle timing tag.
    Cyclist
Uses the helmet sticker. Receives the timing tag at the first handover.
    Runner
Wears the race bib on the front and receives the timing tag for the final leg.

    Before you start

Agree who is doing each leg. Ask the transition crew where your team should wait and make the handover. Everyone needs to know the course for their own leg.

    At each handover

Swap the ankle timing tag in transition, along with any other items needed for the next leg. Secure the tag before the next athlete leaves. Keep the handover clear of other racers.

Triathlon relay teams start with their Olympic or Sprint triathlon field. Select that race at the top of the guide for the right times and laps.

Team managers: pass the details on.

Only the team manager receives registration-system emails. Forward the race information to every teammate.

    Series passes & the tee

Bring your entry confirmation and check that you are collecting the pack for Race 1 · Maraetai Beach · 8 November.

What happens to my season gear?

Series-pass entrants receive a bib and helmet sticker for each race, with a swim cap and timing transponder to bring to each event. Duathletes have their timing transponder on their race number. Single-race entrants must return their reusable timing tag after their race. Series-pass entrants keep their reusable timing tag all season and bring it to every event.

Does my pass include the tee?

The current offer includes a tee with eligible four-race Super Early Bird, Early Bird and Standard passes, while stocks last. Try-a-Tri, three-race passes and Late Entry passes are excluded.

Check your confirmation and the pass page for your eligibility. Eligible series-pass entrants collect their series tee at Race 1.

    Parking, toilets & the venue

The event is at Maraetai Beach, 188 Maraetai Drive, Maraetai, Auckland. Allow time to park, walk in, collect your pack and set up.

    Parking & road access

Carpool where you can, leave driveways clear and follow the signs and marshals. A route in a maps app is not an event traffic plan.

Parking is first come, first served. Arrive early, carpool and allow time to walk to the event. Avoid parking on, in front of or near driveways. The small car park behind the event base fills before 6:30 am, so be prepared to use street parking on Rewa Drive, Carlton Crescent and Maraetai Drive. Open the interactive venue map → Find toilets, registration, transition, the finish and race-day support. For medical help, alert the nearest crew member. Changing facilities and showers are not confirmed.

    Supporters & meeting up

Agree on a meeting point before racing. Keep course crossings clear, cross only when marshals allow it, and leave access for athletes and emergency services.

    Accessibility or lost property

Contact the team before the event if you need help with access. On the day, registration is the place to ask about lost property or to find the right crew member.

    Before the start · Maraetai

    Entry changes & late entries

Check the name, date of birth and race on your confirmation. Those details matter for your timing, category and series results.

Wrong race, distance or personal details?

Contact the event team before race day. At the venue, go to registration before starting so the timing record and your gear can be checked. Do not simply start a different race.

    Entering late

Use the entry link on the event page for current availability and prices. At the venue, speak to registration. Allow time for the entry process, setup and the compulsory briefing.

Giving your place to someone else

Person-to-person transfers are handled through your Event Hub account. Complete the transfer properly so the correct athlete is recorded. Do not hand over a bib for someone to race under your name.

Refund and postponement requests are covered by the event terms. Check those terms before making changes.

    Before the start · Maraetai

Bike help from Ben & PBT

Ben from Performance Bicycle Tuning will be at the event servicing bikes. Find Ben and the PBT setup if your bike needs attention.

Get there early and explain what is happening. Have any parts you already know you need with you, and check with Ben what can be done, how long it will take and the cost before work starts.

Do not leave a known mechanical problem until your start call. If the bike cannot be made ready in time, speak to registration about your options.

    Once you are racing

Move clear of other riders if you need to stop. Alert a marshal if you cannot continue. On-site servicing is not a promise of repair support out on the course.

    Weather & event updates

Recheck the event website and your entry emails before travelling. Race-day announcements and the safety briefing cover any changes to the plan.

Bring sunscreen and a warm layer, along with your usual race kit. Conditions can change over the morning, especially by the water.

If a course or start changes

Follow the event crew’s instructions. A saved race card, calendar entry or downloaded checklist will not update by itself.

    If you cannot race

Check the entry terms and contact the team. If you have started and then stop, tell an official so your withdrawal is recorded. Single-race entrants return their reusable timing tag; series-pass entrants keep theirs for the season.

    Swim rules & water safety

Wear your issued event cap and start in the area and wave allocated to your race. Lifeguards patrol the swim.

    Caps & wetsuits

If you wear two caps, put the event cap on the outside. Wetsuits are not compulsory under the current event information. There is no wetsuit-hire service this season; organise your gear before the event.

    Know your route

Open your selected swim map and listen for buoy, turning and lap instructions at briefing. Follow the full course and the water-safety team’s directions.

    Need help in the water?

Raise one arm to attract a lifeguard. If you cannot, roll onto your back and try to alert them. Tell a lifeguard immediately if you see another swimmer in trouble.

Swim aids that improve speed, endurance or buoyancy are not permitted, apart from a wetsuit. Check the full rules if you are unsure about equipment.

    Bike rules & road awareness

Know your bike route and lap count before starting. Follow the marked course and every marshal’s instructions.

    • Wear your helmet and keep the sticker visible on its front.
    • Keep left unless passing; overtake safely on the right and make your intentions clear.
    • Stay inside the coned lane where one is provided. Even closed roads may have traffic.
    • Drafting is permitted. Ride predictably, watch for hazards and leave yourself room to react.
    • Do not use aero bars while drafting, as set out in the race guides.
    • Follow the marked mount and dismount points. Watch for other athletes entering transition.

Bike course cut-off: 10:30 am. If you cannot finish, tell an official.

    On the course · Maraetai

    Run laps & course manners

For this edition, the Olympic run is 3 laps, the Sprint run is 2 laps, and Try-a-Tri is 1 lap. Your selected course is shown in the course section.

Look at the map before racing so you know the turnarounds and where you choose another lap or the finish. Keep count as you go; a nearby athlete may be doing a different race.

    • Wear your bib on the front where it can be seen.
    • Follow the marked route and the side-of-path instructions given at this event’s briefing.
    • Give other athletes room and take care at turns, crossings and aid stations.
    • Use the bins or designated waste points. Keep wrappers off the course.

    Headphones

The event advice recommends racing without them. If you use them, keep the volume low or use one earbud so you can hear traffic, marshals and other athletes. Listen for updated instructions at briefing.

Run course cut-off: 11:30 am. Course support ends then and timing afterwards is not guaranteed.

Move out of the way of other racers where safe. Tell an identifiable event official that you are withdrawing, so your withdrawal can be recorded. Single-race entrants return their reusable timing tag; series-pass entrants keep theirs all season. Do not just leave the venue without telling anyone.

If you see someone in trouble

Stop where it is safe, stay with them if you can and ask someone to get the nearest marshal. In the swim, alert a lifeguard.

    Questions about a race decision

Registration can help you find the Event Director or Event Manager. Formal protests must be made in person within two hours of finishing, as set out in the event rules.

Finish, timing gear & bike pickup

    1. Follow the finish crew. Keep moving through the finish area so the next athletes have room.
    2. Check your timing gear. Single-race entrant? Return your reusable timing tag after your race. Series-pass entrant? Keep yours all season and bring it to every event. Do not put reusable timing gear in the rubbish.
    3. Find your drink and supporters. Refill your bottle, grab a layer and meet at the spot you agreed on.
    4. Collect your bike when directed. Wait for the transition crew to allow access. Keep out of the way of athletes still racing and take only your own bike and kit.
    5. Check your result. If something is wrong, head to registration while you are at the event.
Aquabike: your race ends after the bike.

At briefing, confirm the exact timed finish and the route back into the village. Do not add the run or cross an active course to reach the finish facilities.

Transition is closed until 10:30 am. Wait for the transition crew to allow access before collecting your bike. For Aquabike, confirm the timed finish and route back into the village at briefing.

    Find your result

Search by your name or race number. Aquabikers do not receive a race bib; ask registration if you need help finding your race number. The separate ID printed on your timing tag is not your race number.

    Check the basics first

Look at your name, race, age category and finish time. If something does not look right, speak to registration and give them your race number and the detail that needs checking.

    A split is missing

A timing point can miss a read even when the finish time is recorded. Use the overall finish time for comparison and flag the missing split to the team. A blank split does not mean you skipped that leg.
