Race 1 - Maraetai Beach – 8 November 2026

Maraetai Beach

A race with a view.

Maraetai makes an early start worth it. A sea swim off the beach, a ride along the coast and through East Auckland’s rolling countryside, and a run mixing trail and path. There’s plenty to take in between the hard bits.

Whether you’re lining up for your first triathlon, chasing a quick Sprint or taking on the Olympic distance, there’s a challenge here for you. Choose your race below and make a day of it.

Race Bib & Helmet Sticker

A quick check before the start: your helmet sticker and race bib are both compulsory on their respective legs.

Helmet sticker

Place your sticker on the front of your helmet, where it can be clearly seen. It must be worn throughout the bike leg.

Race bib

Your bib must be worn on the front during the run. Secure it with a race belt or safety pins. Need pins? Just ask—we’ve got you covered.

Safety

Race smart, look out for each other and help everyone get home safely.

Stay alert on course

You have primary responsibility for your own safety. Stay inside the coned lane wherever one is provided, and only proceed when it’s safe. Even closed roads may have traffic on them. Your race number doesn’t make you invincible.

Listen to your body

If you feel unwell or unusually thirsty, stop and ask a marshal for help. Move to a safe place to rest. Don’t ignore the warning signs or push on just to finish.

Keep your ears open

We recommend racing without headphones. If you wear them, keep the volume low or use just one earbud so you can hear traffic, marshals’ instructions and other participants coming past.

Follow the marshals

Follow marshals’ instructions—they’re there for your safety. If you see a participant in distress, stop where it’s safe, stay with them and ask someone to alert the nearest marshal.

Drafting is permitted

Drafting is allowed, but it calls for extra care. Keep your eyes on the road and leave yourself room to react. Ride predictably and never assume the rider ahead has spotted a hazard.

Life-threatening emergency? Call 111 immediately. Ask someone to alert a marshal while help is on its way.
